When Style And Function Meet

When it relates to the style and performance of a golf shoe, adidas continues to challenge the mindset. From uppers made of stretch Primeknit fabric and recycled content, to spikeless X-Traxion and injected Spikemore cleats, the brand keeps pushing the boundaries.

Rebelcross is yet another silhouette dropping from adidas into its adicross range that’s meant to capture the cross-section between streetwear style and a pin-seeker attitude. This is a golf shoe that doesn’t intend to conform.

The sleek and progressive design subtly gives golfers the performance they would expect from a golf shoe. Built on the wildly popular and comfortable adidas Yeezy last, the rubber spikeless outsole features Gripmore in the forefoot so golfers get a great combination of wear-anywhere versatility and also high-level performance traction out on the course.

“Like anyone else when it comes to style, golfers want to have the chance to express themselves, and one of the ways they can do that is through their footwear. With Rebelcross, golfers will get elevated style and functionality that they’ll be impressed with not only when they put them on, but when they perform on the course.”
– Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf

Asymmetric lacing adds streetwear style yet functionally provides a more secure fit over the top of the foot, while additional eyelets on a contrasting suede patch with stitching detail for the laces add further street cred and allow for a more precision lacing of the shoe.

While style and versatility were obviously a focus for the design concept aimed at the new generation golfer, performance as a golf shoe was still essential. And this is where adidas got creative by taking some inspiration from the flagship ZG21 model and created a midsole that features Lightstrike and Boost cushioning. It’s a combination that offers an amazing lightweight feel with all-day comfort so feet stay energised over the course of the round, or wherever the shoes take them after that last putt or swing. There’s also a subtle addition of a TPU heel clip for additional stability should a golfer feel the urge to swing for the fences.

Proving that versatile performance is possible, the new Rebelcross comes with a one-year warranty for the waterproof upper that combines rich, premium leather with recycled materials. Incorporating recycled content into certain models of its golf shoes has been part of the adidas’ Primegreen sustainability initiative to end the use of virgin polyester in its products by 2024.
