The Golf Experience Grows From Strength To Strength

Growing from strength to strength, Golf Asia’s Golf Experience 3 took flight at Sentosa Golf Club in mid-November. Well-received, this elevated event allowed avid golfers the opportunity to play a prestigious course with direct experiential engagement of golf-specific and lifestyle brands, and chances aplenty to win a prize, or even two, by the end of the day.

With the year coming to a close, the third and final edition of the Golf Experience took flight at Sentosa Golf Club in mid-November. As with the past two editions, Golf Asia’s well-received elevated golf experience afforded avid golfers the opportunity to play a prestigious course with direct experiential engagement of golf-specific and lifestyle brands, and chances aplenty to win a prize, or even two, by the end of the day.

With stringent check-in measures and safety protocol in place to ensure the safety of all concerned over the two days of 10th and 11th of November, guests checking in were presented with a generous welcome pack courtesy of event partners Cobra Puma Golf and BOSS. Attired in the latest Puma Golf apparel, guests then teed off over the two days in anticipation of the numerous experiential novelty events on-course.

After playing Sentosa’s Serapong, one of Asia’s best championship courses, the last time around, it naturally followed that the golf course of choice this time would be the New Tanjong Course, the site of the HSBC Women’s Champions event. Set against the Singapore Straits with views of metropolitan Singapore all around and inspired by iconic sandbelt golfing experiences, New Tanjong asserts a unique personality with large bunkers rarely seen in Asia, offering golfers the challenge of playing on a course inspired by the style of renowned golf course architect Alister MacKenzie.

Once again, the day’s highlight was the Hole-In-One prize of a $28,000 B&Z Python V8 Monaco luxury watch winder courtesy of Buben & Zorweg. This just reward awaited one lucky winner at the lengthy 7th Hole, a Par 3 that plays to 238m from the tips, but set to a friendlier yet still challenging distance of 203m.

The longest par-three on the golf course, Hole 7 features a creek running down the left side towards the green and joins with a lake behind. The safe play is towards the right as a bunker sidles between the green and the creek on the left, especially when the winds pick up around here.

At the Pyramid Halfway House where guests refuelled with teriyaki salmon and Como Bere draught beer on tap, a pair of Puma Golf’s premium spikeless golf shoes, the ProAdapt Alphacat with Disc laceless system, was the prize for the coolest selfie with the shoes posted online. Congratulations Peter Tai.

The King of Putts! Challenge at Hole 5 was also highly anticipated. Cobra Golf released two putter lines this year, the world’s first complete line of 3D printed multi-material putters with high MOI, SIK face and Cobra Connect’s data-tracking technology; and the King Vintage Series of classic shaped putters styled in modern black and turbo yellow. The putt closest to the hole using any of the putters stood to win the top-of-the-line Cobra King Algera 3D printed putter. Five golfers made it look too easy by sinking the long undulating putt over the expansive green. Congratulations to the eventual lucky winner, Kelvin Lim.

Congratulations also to the Nearest-The-Pin winners, Ke Yam Cheong, Sam Lim, Michael Ng and Sern Chia Lung; and to the Nearest-The-Line winner Johnson Goh. Johnathan Ho, who clinched the BOSS Longest Drive at Hole 12, was rewarded with a $500 BOSS Voucher and a BOSS Golf Bag for a drive of 250m.

In addition, Hole 12 was also the site for BOSS Best in Flight, where the longest drive among the four in each flight won a $150 BOSS Voucher and a BOSS Goodie Bag.

Awaiting golfers at the end of the round was the opportunity to pick their own prize in the sure-win lucky draw. Andre Sion and Chris Chia each won the Cobra King Radspeed Driver, while Eddie Loo and Stewart Lee each won a set of the Cobra King Radspeed One Length Irons. Congratulations to all our winners in each day’s lucky draw.
