Asian Tour Book 2024

2024 REVIEW: SEASON ON THE ASCENT MAKES #TIMETORISE A HIT A lot of time and effort went into conceptualising and then executing #TimeToRise – the Asian Tour campaign launched so successfully in 2024. Finding the messaging that correctly encapsulated the Asian Tour’s current cycle was an important process as the tour, in particular, focused on a digital first strategy. The campaign was a huge hit, perfectly helping to celebrate the Asian Tour’s 20th anniversary, and it reflected a remarkable 2024 season – when so many players saw it as their Time To Rise. For John Catlin, whose brilliant season saw him become one of the hottest players on the planet let alone the Asian Tour, it was a case of time to rise again. He won four times on the Asian Tour and twice on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) before opting to focus on Europe in 2020. The Asian Tour delighted in seeing him do great things on the DP World Tour, where he triumphed on three occassions, but was even happier to see him return to the region. One of the Tour’s greatest overseas players came back as the full package and produced a level of golf rarely seen before in Asia. Having claimed the 19th card at Qualifying School in January, the American was in electrifying form. He tied for third at the season-opening Malaysian Open, and won the next two events back-to-back, the International Series Macau presented by Wynn and the Saudi Open presented by PIF. An 11-under-par 59 on day three of the Macau event, saw him become the first player to break 60 on the Asian Tour and hammered home the fact that he was in the form of his life. Fellow-American Patrick Reed played alongside him that day and, not to be outdone, shot a 59 of his own later in the year enroute to winning the Link Hong Kong Open. Not long after those back-to-back victories, it looked like Catlin would make it win number three at the International Series Morocco, sitting three ahead with two to play. However, New Zealand’s Ben Campbell produced a stunning eagle, birdie finish to draw level with him and then clinched it with a birdie on the first play-off hole. John Catlin’s [above] Merit list win was his first while Ben Campbell [right] also enjoyed his best finish on the list, in second. 8
