Asian Tour Book 2024
Baig, who started the day three flights and three shots behind the leaders, reeled off a sizzling string of five birdies in-a-row on the front nine to stamp his authority on the round, making the turn in 30. Two more birdies followed and despite a bogey on the last hole, he had done enough to wait in the clubhouse and watch his challengers fade away. “Everything was perfect today, except for the last hole!” he said. “To win is always a special feeling. I’m so happy, first win on an international tour, actually my third win in a row, two in Pakistan the previous weeks and this is the third.” Second place went to Jakraphan Premsirigorn of Thailand, ahead of Korea’s Lion Park and overnight leader Sangchai Kaewcharoen who shared third place. ADT - All Thailand Partnership Trophy: Kammalas holes out in extra-time thriller The ADT - All Thailand Partnership ended in dramatic fashion after Thailand’s Kammalas Namuangruk chipped in on the second play-off hole to snatch victory after a close- fought battle with compatriot Amarin Kraivixien at Red Mountain Golf Club in Phuket. Sinking to his knees after the ball rolled in, Kammalas celebrated a brave fight back which saw him come from two shots behind on the last to claim his spot in the play-off. Starting the final round tied at 13 under par, the pair battled throughout the day with the lead changing hands on several occasions. Amarin edged ahead with birdies on holes 14 and 16 to take the lead by two shots heading into the 18th. However, an incredible finish for Kammalas on the final hole – where he holed a 10- foot putt for eagle while Amarin could only make par - meant both players finished tied. “I’m proud of myself,” said Kammalas. “I started with two birdies but then there was nothing good until 18 when I made eagle putt for the play-off, and then to chip in for the win, nothing else to say.” Singha Laguna Phuket Open: Magnificent eight for Pavit Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert held his nerve to win the Singha Laguna Phuket Open by a shot after a magnificent long lag putt on the last hole helped secure a par, holding off a determined group of contenders. It was his eighth victory on the Asian Development Tour – the most by any on the circuit. Five players finished in a share of second place at Laguna Golf Phuket including Thais Phachara Khongwatmai and RattanonWannasrichan, who shared the final group with Pavit. “It was a little bit tight on the leaderboard, yeah,” said Pavit. “As I said before, anyone could have won it today in these kind of conditions. “Credit to the putt on the last though, that was the shot of the week for me. It was a long putt, up and down but I got it close, so it was an easy par. It would have been very easy to three putt from that spot - it must have been almost 20 yards - but I was able to get it to two feet from the hole.” NamA Bank VietnamMasters: Baig at the double Ahmed Baig claimed his second title on the Asian Development Tour in the space of three months after winning the Nam A Bank Vietnam Masters by one shot from Malaysia’s Shahriffuddin Ariffin and Witchayanon Chothirunrungrueng from Thailand. It was also win number two in Vietnam as his first victory, at the Lexus Challenge, was also in Vietnam.
