TAG Heuer Celebrates The Singapore Grand Prix

06 Oct 2019

Swiss luxury watch brand TAG Heuer kicked off this year’s Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix with an electrifying party at one of the country’s most iconic and futuristic parks, the Silver Leaf at the Gardens by the Bay. Offering stunning views of the Flower Dome and Marina Bay skyline in the background, about 300 guests including retailers, partners, customers and members of the media attended the event and had the pleasure to meet Australian actor and TAG Heuer Ambassador Chris Hemsworth, and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Formula 1 driver, Max Verstappen.

A 8-metre-long tunnel entrance lit up by green and red LED lights, the TAG Heuer brand colours, welcomed the guests through an immersive moment as they made their way to the main area and stage. There, one of Singapore’s leading bands, The Sam Willows, kicked off the evening with a set of their signature indie-pop hits. Lead guitarist, Jon Chua, is also a friend of the brand in Singapore.

Chris Hemsworth and Max Verstappen was joined onstage by Amelia Sillard, Vice-President of TAG Heuer South-East Asia and Australia, who thanked the two gentlemen for their presence: “The Formula 1 season is upon us here in Singapore, and for TAG Heuer it means we celebrate the great partnership we have with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Formula 1; and more widely motorsport and performance which are so deeply rooted in our brand DNA. I thank Max and the team for joining us tonight and wish you best of luck this weekend,” she said. “And a very warm welcome to our long-standing ambassador Chris, who made the trip especially from Australia to be with us for this exciting weekend!”

Rozz Lee, one of Singapore’s first friends of the brand, led the conversation on stage, Hemsworth spoke about spending time with his family in Australia and touched on TAG Heuer’s rich heritage while Verstappen shared thoughts on his love for motor racing and reflected on his previous races at the Singapore Grand Prix track.

The two men also showed their sporting spirit, completing two Formula 1-inspired challenges. The first was a ‘Pit Stop Tyre Challenge’ where the duo raced against the clock and pitted their tyre-changing skills against each other, the ‘Batak Challenge’ then tested their reflexes and hand-eye coordination. The challenges concluded with Team Max being declared the winner, as the party carried on with music provided by DJ Boey.
