When Only The Best Will Do

Two unprecedented iron designs, engineered to be the finest irons a golfer has ever played, mark the debut of CNCPT by Titleist.

For the Titleist Golf Club R&D team, CNCPT represents a challenge to redefine what’s possible. CNCPT is about removing obstacles and giving free rein to Titleist’s Advanced Research team to pursue manufacturing and material technologies like the game has never seen… regardless of cost.

“CNCPT is an idea, a promise. It’s our answer to ‘What if?’ ” said Kelley Moser Jr., Brand Manager, CNCPT Clubs. “What if our R&D engineers could bring their dreams to reality, using materials and processes never before used in golf? We promise to provide them all the resources they need, so that CNCPT will always deliver the ‘wow.’ ”

 

Born from this mindset are the first CNCPT by Titleist products, the new CNCPT CP-01 and CP- 02 irons, featuring the thinnest unsupported, constant-thickness face in golf, made possible only through the use of a rare, super strong alloy never before used in club manufacturing. This Super Metal L-Face Insert, measured and re-measured to ensure perfect uniformity, produces previously unseen ball speeds off the face of an iron.

“It’s the highest strength material that we’ve ever tested,” Moser said. “It allows us to make the thinnest unsupported face in golf. It’s very expensive, very rare, and you have to buy a lot of it at one point in time so it’s an expensive endeavor, but it’s worth it when you watch the ball flight.”

The thin inserts uniform thickness from heel-to-toe and top-to-bottom, rather than a variable thickness; this helps to reduce hot spots, areas of the face that produce higher ball speeds than others, for more consistent and predictable distance control.

In general, having a very thin, high-strength face helps to raise ball speeds, but it also reduces unwanted weight from the face area to be utilized in other, more effective areas. Titleist used this discretionary weight to add Tungsten – a high-density material — to the clubs’ perimeters. In fact, Titleist reports that Tungsten makes up “nearly 50 percent” of the total head weights in the lower lofted irons. This design means more forgiveness for golfers because the perimeter-weighted head leads to higher MOI (moment of inertia, a measure of energy transfer), and with the positioning of Tungsten low-and-rearward, the irons are designed for higher launch, as well.

With well hidden hollow-bodied construction, the supreme speed of CP-01 and CP-02 is fortified by extraordinary amounts of high-density tungsten, nearly 50 percent of the total head weight in the lower lofts, for increased MOI, a higher launch, greater distance and the most generous impact possible.

The new CNCPT irons look immaculate in design and finish, and have been visually articulated with equal imagination to produce the world’s most satisfying ball-striking experience.

 

The more forgiving of the two, the CNCPT CP-01 produces supreme speed, extraordinary launch and forgiveness in a players distance chassis. High density tungsten weighting averaging more than 100g per head in the lower- lofted irons translates to ease of launch and a soaring flight. Super Metal L-Face Insert is a super strong alloy for the thinnest unsupported, constant-thickness face in golf.

 

The CNCPT CP-02 is also built for supreme speed, albeit in a stunningly playable classic blade shape for the golfer who prefers sleeker lines and a more workable iron that doesn’t punish less than perfect impact like a traditional blade does. More than 110g of high-density tungsten weighting hidden away in the lower lofted irons contribute to a higher launch and playability. As with the CP-01, the face is constructed of the Super Metal L-Face Insert for the thinnest unsupported, constant-thickness face in golf for exceptional ball speed through impact.
