Around The World at SICC
Singapore’s premier golf club redefines what amateur golf events mean with the second edition of their Around The World Golf & Gourmet Adventure.
Singapore Island Country Club is known to be arguably the most premier golf and country club in the land. Now it’s putting on another feather in its cap by holding possibly one of the most exciting and rewarding social events on the golf calendar.

The second installment of the Around the World Golf & Gourmet Adventure was held in August at the New Course, and delivered its promise of a day of camaraderie and celebration enriched with international cuisines and a lively atmosphere. This year, 168 golfers creatively decorated their golf buggies to represent 36 countries, showing the spirit of global friendship and community at the Club.
At the heart of the competition, Team Cayman Islands, comprising former professionals Lam Zhi Qun and Lam Chih Bing, together with teammates Andre Huber and Chua Hun Yew, drew on their experience and precision to secure the title as overall winner. In addition to the team’s success, Lam Zhi Qun also won the Longest Drive by striking a 320m effort at Hole-3 of the Pierce Course.

Golfers were never kept thirsty or hungry on the course. On-course hospitality zones offering delectable local delights such as Yam Cake, Siew Mai, Takoyaki and Otak kept spirits high, and tummies satiated. Frozt fruit popsicles further helped everyone stay cool and refreshed.
The celebration continued off course, as members and guests embarked on a cultural and culinary journey at the Island Ballroom. Booths showcased delicacies from Singapore, the Philippines, France, Spain, China, Japan, Italy, India, Switzerland and beyond, alongside artisanal trinkets and keepsakes. Signature creations such as Filipino lechon, Spanish paella, Indian tandoori and Swiss raclette were prepared by SICC’s culinary team.
The ballroom was transformed into a lively food festival, offering participants the chance to mingle and relax while enjoying a world tour of flavours.

During dinner, guests were treated to colourful cultural performances from the Philippines, Thailand and China adding vibrancy to the evening. Many members also embraced the theme by dressing in ethnic costumes from across the globe. Together, the performances and attire created a carnival-like atmosphere that reflected the warmth and vibrancy of the SICC community.
SICC’s General Manager, Mr Ian Geoffrey Roberts, emphasised that the Golf & Gourmet Adventure reflects the Club’s focus on creating experiences that go beyond the fairways as it is a combination of sport, food and culture to bring members closer together.

Celebrations reached their peak with the highly anticipated Grand Lucky Draw, where SICC Member Mr Benny Tay drove away with the ultimate prize – a brand-new Dongfeng Box Car worth S$90,000 (excluding COE). It proved a fitting finale to an event that is surely to light up local golf with its focus on friendship, community spirit, and, in no small measure, surprisingly amazing prizes.

As Singapore’s oldest and most distinguished golf club, SICC has long set the benchmark for excellence in the nation’s sporting and social landscape. Anchored by over a century of rich heritage and strengthened by its world-class facilities, the Club continues to innovate. Today, SICC stands not only as a custodian of tradition but also as a driving force shaping the future of golf and lifestyle in Singapore, delivering unparalleled experiences for its members and community.
