EFG Expands Support for EFG-SGA Elite Young Golfers

The bond-free scholarship programme was established in 2022 with each scholarship of a year’s duration. It awarded three scholarships in 2023, raised the number to five in 2024, and significantly expanded it to 11 this year. Recipients of this year’s EFG-SGA Elite Young Golfers Scholarship include: Aloysa Margiela Atienza, Amanda Tan, Brayden Lee, Chen Xingtong, Gregory Foo, Justin Kuk, Koh Sock Hwee, Nicholas Chiam, Ryan Ang and Troy Storm.
“The EFG-SGA Elite Young Golfers Scholarship represents more than just financial backing,” says Albert Chiu, Executive Chairman, Asia-Pacific, EFG. “We recognise that professional golfers often face their challenges alone, with very limited financial backing from corporate sponsors. By supporting these athletes, we are not just providing financial support; we are creating a community of excellence where young athletes can thrive and grow together. When corporations like EFG step up to sponsor budding local talents, we are investing in Singapore’s future champions.”
The expanded programme extends beyond financial support to create a comprehensive ecosystem for professional development. This includes mentorship opportunities, technical support and access to international competitions and a global network of sporting resources to address the multi-faceted challenges faced by professional athletes.

Recent successes by EFG-supported athletes such as Shannon Tan, the first Singaporean golfer to qualify for the Olympics, showcase the positive impact of providing holistic community support. Shannon, EFG’s first Singapore Sports Ambassador, claimed her second victory on the Ladies European Tour with a win at the Amundi German Masters on 29 June.
Building on EFG’s long-standing commitment to Singapore’s sporting community, the scholarship sets a new benchmark for corporate support of professional sports in Singapore. By supporting both professionals and rising stars, EFG demonstrates that corporate involvement in sports development can be both impactful and sustainable.
