LOW TORQUE FOR TRUER ROLL

31 Jul 2025

The issue most golfers have with putting is that our fidgety hands often get in the way of a true, straight roll.

That is one reason why high moment of inertia putters have taken the game by storm. Just watching the PGA TOUR every week and you’ll see fewer and fewer golfers choosing blade putters over mallet putters.

When money is on the line, increasing your chances of holing putts trumps everything. This is one reason why TaylorMade Spider putters have been so successful of late. And now, with the introduction of the TaylorMade Spider Zero Torque (ZT), golfers of all abilities can benefit from increased stability and consistency on the greens through a high-MOI design that utilizes multi-material construction, onset hosel configuration, extreme perimeter weighting, and precise CG placement.

The putter’s 100 per cent multi-material construction uses high-density 303 stainless steel in the face and low-density 6061 aluminium in the back. Extreme perimeter weighting also enhances the putters’ high- MOI and enhanced stability dynamics.

Three strategically placed TSS weights allowed TaylorMade engineers to triangulate CG properties to maintain a toe-up position. TaylorMade engineers positioned the CG 25mm behind the face, allowing them to bore the shaft directly in line with the CG with 1° of onset. This orientation not only reduces the amount of face twisting that occurs during the stroke, it also pre-sets the shaft in a forward leaning position at address and eliminates the propensity for golfers to add loft at impact.

The result is consistent end-over-end roll that enhances distance control and allows putts to stay online. Spider ZT has a heel-to-toe cambered sole accommodates a wide array of player types and setup styles, and is designed to work specifically with the hosel configuration.

As a result, golfers are better able to sole and aim the putter at address and deliver it to that same square
position at impact.

True PathTM Alignment appears as a solid white streak on the top of the putter with a black sightline,  Spider ZT features thinly milled lines on the top of the 303 stainless steel face that are evenly spaced, with the total lined area adding up to exact width of a golf ball. This allows golfers to precisely centre the ball in the middle of the face at address to reduce misses on the heel and toe.

Spider ZT utilizes TaylorMade’s Pure RollTM insert that is ade from a combination of Surlyn and aluminium. The insert features grooves that are angled at 45° to promote forward roll, while also enhancing sound and feel.

The Spider ZT standard length putter comes in 34”. The stock shaft is the KBS CT Putter 120 Stepless Black, and the stock grip is the SuperStroke Pistol 1.0 set 1° off axis. Loft is 2.5°, lie angle is 70° and head weight is 370g.

The Spider ZT counterbalance putter comes in 38”. The stock shaft is the KBS GPS Custom Graphite 155g, and the stock grip is the SuperStroke 2.0XL 13.75” Round. Loft is 2.5°, lie angle is 70° and head weight is 395.

TaylorMade Spider ZT putters are available at MST Golf stores in Singapore.
