MASTERING THE GAME OF FUN
Golfers just want to have fun. And be up for winning some attractive prizes at the same time. Golf Asia gave them that and more when it held the annual Golf Asia Masters at Tanah Merah Country Club (TMCC) last April.
The event saw 135 golfers sign up, maximizing the shotgun time sheet at the picturesque and challenging Tampines Course at TMCC. The 2025 edition is the fourth in the series, and the second consecutive one held at one of Singapore’s premier golf and country clubs. What started on a small scale as the Golf Asia Golf Experience – organized and played through the pandemic – has evolved into one of the most anticipated social competitions of the year.
There is always something unique about the Golf Asia Masters. This year, participants enjoyed cakes, mochi, and other sweet treats sponsored by Dotzu that were specially air-flown from Japan, just in time for the event. There was also a special draw prize of a hair treatment set worth 2,888 given away at dinner that was sponsored by Hair+Lab.
This year’s tournament would not have been as successful without key sponsors. Cobra Puma stepped up to be the presenting sponsor, Hong Leong Assurance and Mitsubishi Electric Asia were the main sponsors, with co-sponsor Smartship Hub. Cartimes Group offered a Mercedes- Benz C200 as the hole-in-one prize.
As is customary at Golf Asia Masters events, the playing field included some of Singapore’s television personalities. This year, actors Mr Rong Ming, Mr Cavin Soh, and Mr Chen Tian Wen joined in the fun.
Blessed with fine weather, the golf game went smoothly throughout the day. Golfers found the ice cream stand at the difficult par-3 hole 4 a refreshing
reprieve from trying to get the ball on the green from nearly 200m away. Unique drinks and snacks from Dotzu at the halfway house off hole 7 proved a winning formula to help players cool off and fuel up along the way.
The action continued after the golf game with emcee Ross Sarpani livening up the proceedings with his humour and verve. While a delicious and gut-filling multi- course Chinese dinner was served, numerous prizes were given away in the lucky draw, in addition to those to the tournament winners.
Mr Karthik took the Top Golfer prize, winning a Cobra DS ADAPT LS Driver, Ultralight Pro Cart Bag, and a HydroFlask Trophy. Mr Rong Ming took
first-runner up and won a Cobra DS ADAPT LS Driver, Crown C Backpack, and Hydroflasks trophy. Second-runner position went to Mr Lim Eng Thiam who won a Cobra DS ADAPT LS Driver, Cobra umbrella, and Hydroflasks trophy.
Mr Jansen Ang got his tee shot onto the line at Nearest To Line hole 10, winning a Cobra DS ADAPT LS Fairway Wood, and Mr Adrian Yong won Nearest To Pin at hole 16 when his ball landed just 5cm from the hole. Prizes for the tournament men categories and novelty games were sponsored by Cobra Puma.
Ms Phua Ai-Lin won the Ladies category, taking home a $2,000 shopping voucher and HydroFlask trophy sponsored by societyA.
The Golf Asia Masters is slowly building a reputation as a tournament where everyone is a winner, with a large proportion of participants winning a prize. The top three lucky draw prizes went to Ms Daphne Poh who won the top lucky draw prize of a Cobra King Tec 2025 set of irons sponsored by Cobra Puma, Mr Kelvin Poh who took home a Puma x AP Tour Stand Bag sponsored by Cobra Puma, and Mr Aareal Boo who won a four-day/ three-night stay at Myoko Ski Resort in Japan, sponsored by the Resort.
