CIMB Preferred Golf Challenge 2016

30 Oct 2016

CIMB Group in Singapore recently held its CIMB Preferred Golf Challenge 2016 at the Sentosa Golf Club. Exclusively for CIMB Preferred clients, the winner of the Singapore CIMB Preferred Golf Challenge would win a rare opportunity to play alongside some of the world’s top golfers at the CIMB Classic Pro-Am Competition at the Tournament Players Club (“TPC”) Kuala Lumpur (formerly Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club). This would be in addition to being hosted to attend the CIMB Classic from 20 – 23 October 2016. Played on The Serapong course, 121 golfers had the opportunity to tackle the wonderful smooth and slick greens on a cloudy overcast day. Participants looked forward to the chance to avail themselves of trying to win the grand Hole-in-One prize of an Audi A4 1.4 TFSI worth S$162,000 (excluding COE, insurance and all other fees & taxes). Failing that, they had further Hole-in-One chances to win a Buben & Zorweg watch winder worth S$41,000 and a Philip Stein Prestige 18K Rose Gold men’s watch worth S$30,238. Guests were also treated whilst on the course to whiskey tasting, food stations serving up yummy hot dogs; curry puffs, and a host of other snacks to complement their day out.
However, the weather was not as good as one would have hoped as a lightning delay stopped play after 3 holes. After an hour’s delay, play resumed and the players eagerly went back out to pit themselves against the field for the wonderful prizes on hand. But the skies turned unfriendly again after several holes at which point, some players adjourned back to the clubhouse for a hot shower and cocktails whilst some die-hard golfers continued on.
Due to the uncooperative weather, there could not be any conclusion of the event that would see a winner nor any winners of the novelty prizes. As such, these prizes were put into the lucky draw pool with the top prize being the hosted attendance with a Pro-Am spot at the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur. In addition, CIMB had a host of other sponsors for the lucky draw from the likes of Audi, Buben & Zorweg, Philip Stein, Leica Camera Asia Pacific, Bintan Lagoon Resort, Calla Spa, Laguna National, MST Golf, Munsing Wear, Shiseido, Titleist, Van Laack, The Els Club Malaysia, Courtyard by Marriott, Resorts World Sentosa Singapore, and AIA.
Following a refreshing pre-dinner cocktail, guests were then ushered in for the dinner proper where they awaited with eagerness for the lucky draw. As name after name was called up, all that remained was the top prize which saw Mr Tay Kok Poh walk off with it and it comprised of a trip to play at the CIMB Classic Pro-Am competition on 19 Oct 2016 at the TPC Kuala Lumpur Golf and attendance at the CIMB Classic from 20 to 23 Oct 2016 with access to the CIMB hospitality suite (inclusive of complimentary transport, accommodation and transfers to the tournament.
