Cobra King Forged Tec Irons

03 Dec 2019

Since the introduction of the first Forged Tec irons in 2015, Cobra has been packing game-improvement technology inside a player model profile, with this 2020 edition the most handsome iteration to date; vastly upgraded in terms of looks and performance with the latest industry tech, plus a couple of other tricks up Cobra’s sleeve that other companies don’t offer.

Moving away from the previous black cavity backed design, the new Forged Tec irons is Cobra’s interpretation of a hollow body iron, a sleek muscle-back shape packaged in modern cutting-edge styling that hides all the performance tech.

Utilising multiple material construction, a hollow cavity infused with foam microspheres fine-tunes the acoustics and creates that desired softer feel. A proven design on Cobra’s game-improvement irons and hybrids, the PWRShell forged face insert makes its debut on a better player iron, the ultra-thin face wrapping under the leading edge and working in conjunction with the internal cavity design to increase launch and ball speed. A tungsten toe weight centres the CG behind the hitting zone to maximize distance and increase precision for attacking pins, even on off-centre hits.

For an added dimension of consistency, the One Length model has each iron designed to match the length (37.5 inches) and weight of a 7-iron. Cobra have made all the necessary engineering adjustments so the golfer only needs that one same swing and setup for every iron in the bag. This is primarily achieved through matching 7-iron head and swing weights in every iron to create a consistent feel throughout the set. While lie angles are more upright in the long irons and slightly flatter in the short clubs down, the shafts are also lighter in the long irons to help assist launch while heavier wedge shafts promote control and precision.

Another party trick exclusive is Cobra Connect, that allows users to track their accuracy and distance using the Arccos Caddie app on a smart device. Electronically embedded sensors in the grip automatically record the distance and accuracy of every shot so golfers can track their improvements round-to-round.

The Cobra KIng Forged Tec ONE Length and variable length irons are available in steel shafted 6 iron set from 5-PW. The Forged Tec ONE Length is shafted with a progressive NS Pro 950 shaft with blue Lamkin Crossline Cobra Connect grips. The Forged Tec variable length irons are fitted with steel NS Pro 950 shafts. Each set comes stock with Lamkin Crossline Cobra Connect grips in black.
